Joel Osborn threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns, also rushing for two scores to lead the Cyclones to a comeback win over the Mustangs in the state championship game. Greg Applegate, who caught four passes for 170 yards in the game, hauled in both scoring strikes from Osborn in the final six minutes as Harlan Community came back from 12 points down to win. Kevin Kruse added a rushing touchdown and Kyle Martin knocked home a 22-yard field goal as well. Dan Erickson tallied a pair of sacks on Mount Vernon's final drive to set up a game-clinching interception by Ben Arentson.
